Working in White

As Memorial Day approaches it brings with it warmer weather and, most importantly, a change in our wardrobes! One of the biggest changes Spring and Summer bring to our wardrobes is incorporating white clothing back into the rotation. But how do we wear white to work and maintain a professional look?

Below are some examples and some tips for wearing white to work.

Working in White

1. Add another color to the outfit. Whether it’s a neutral or a pop of color, this will make a more balanced outfit for work. You can do this by adding accessories such as a necklace, earrings, bracelets, belt, handbag and/or a scarf. You can also pair a white outfit with a pair of colored shoes!

2. Layer an all white outfit with a sweater or jacket. This will not only add some color to your outfit, but will also maintain your professional look for the office.

3. Don’t be afraid to wear a white suit! A white suit in the office is a perfect way to honor the Spring and Summer in your work wardrobe. Be sure to review your calendar, determine what meetings you have for the day and think about whether white will be appropriate. If you are going to be in court, for example, judges tend to be a bit more traditional and prefer dark colored suits. If you decide white is appropriate, don’t be afraid to wear it!

4. There are many different shades of white. If you aren’t comfortable wearing a true bright white outfit to the work, start with an off white color. This is a great way to start incorporating white into your work wardrobe!
