Incorporating Summer Trends Into Your Work Wardrobe

Often times, our office wardrobes can become a bit dull and monotonous. Rotating the usual pencil skirts, blazers, pant suits, and corporate-esque clothing can leave one feeling fashionably uninspired during our 9-5’s. But this summer, there are ways to jazz up your corporate look while maintaining a professional appearance.

Here are a few ways to “summer-fy” your office wardrobe:

Florals can be a bit intimidating, especially if you normally wear a lot of neutrals. Not to worry! Start off small: find a floral print that isn’t too loud and that features some neutral tones in print. You can incorporate a nice floral shift dress and pair it with a neutral blazer. Or pick a bright floral print blouse and tuck it into a black pencil skirt. This is a great way to slowly add color to your office look and incorporate what you already have in your closet while staying summer stylish.

Lace is the perfect way to add a hint of summer to your wardrobe. This ultra-feminine detail is great when found in a skirt, dress, or top and it is extremely versatile. Lace can be paired with just about anything, but it can also be worn alone, as in a full-lace dress. Whichever route you decide to take, you really can’t go wrong.

Full Skirts
A full skirt is the perfect summer item to add not only to your office wardrobe, but to your closet, period. The full skirt can be worn with a simple blouse, tank top, or cardigan. Since the skirt is the main focus, you want to keep the rest of your look simple and fresh. This item can also easily transition from office to happy hour, and always looks put-together and chic. It is a great alternative to the standard pencil skirt with a bit edge and flair.

Many people think that metallics have to be worn at night. Wrong! Metallics can most definitely be worn during the day-time. That’s not to say you should head to the office looking like a disco ball, but some subtle hints of metallics are perfect for the summer. A great way to incorporate this trend would definitely be through a metallic heel. A metallic heel can act as a neutral and it can be paired with just about anything you already wear to work. It is a simple solution to spruce up your summer work style and, if you feel a little more daring and want to incorporate the metallic trend into your clothing, a skirt may be the perfect solution for you. Wear your metallic skirt with neutral and simple pieces, such as a blazer or vest and simple pumps. It’s all about balance when it comes to styling metallics.

Summer is the perfect time to have fun with your wardrobe and try new styles. By incorporating some of this season’s trends into your work wardrobe, you will instantly transform your dismal work attire and have the perfect summer look!
