Fashion, like art, often mirrors key occurrences in society. In the 80s, when women first started having the same opportunities as men in the workforce, women’s fashion began to resemble the physique and style of a man. The 80s leggings, leg warmers and headbands were great, but the shoulder pads, prom dresses, and monstrous 80s wedding dresses were major fashion no-nos. I seriously can’t stress enough how much I cringe at 80s dresses. A little flare in the shoulders can be stylish, but oversized shoulders really destroyed a woman’s figure.
