5 Items that Add Baggage to your Closet

…and what to replace them with! Let’s face it, all of our closets get cluttered, especially if you aren’t in the regular habit of cleaning out clothes. The general rule in fashion when you do your spring-cleaning is that, if you haven’t worn it in a year, it goes! Some small exceptions can be made, such as formal wear that may not come out once a year, but stick to the rule strictly.
After recently spending a few months abroad, my suitcase was actually lighter when I came back. How? If I hadn’t worn it more than once while on the trip, I pitched it. Here’s the top five things you really should look into donating or throwing
away!1. Formal wear that won’t be reused. I’m talking about prom dresses, bridesmaid dresses, and theme party events that called for a specific dress or look. Let’s face it, you aren’t Katherine Heigl in 27 Dresses, who will “tailor it and wear it again!” Cut down on the clutter in your closet by getting rid of these. You can even donate your old prom or formal dresses to an amazing charity.

What to Buy Instead: Invest in a high-quality, staple formal piece! For most of you, this is going to be something like an LBD.

2. Anything you wore in high-school. You aren’t the same person that you were in high-school. In my case, I’m really thankful for that! Anything that you wore back then probably isn’t even trendy anymore. I know that everything comes back into style, but some trends, I can guarantee, aren’t going to come back (Scrunchies?).
